About Ellie
Ellie (she/her) is a 24 year old lighting designer and electrician based in Chicago. Originally from South Florida, she moved to Chicago in 2019 to attend The Theatre School at DePaul University, and graduated with a BFA in lighting design in 2023. She has been working as a freelancer in theatre, opera, and dance ever since with companies such as Shattered Globe Theatre, Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre, Timeline Theatre, The Artistic Home, and Chicago Fringe Opera.
Ellie is drawn to the DIY production style and tight-knit community that comes with working in Chicago storefront. She loves the challenge of finding creative ways to devise a high caliber design with a slim budget, and finds the process of working with smaller companies very gratifying. Ellie’s design style is colorful and bold, and she thrives working on stories that are experimental.
Ellie also works as an electrician in corporate event production. She started this role with an internship at Centerstage Productions shortly after graduating. She has gone on to travel all over the country working as an electrician for companies such as Amazon, the NFL, Ferrari, and Wyndham.
Ellie has been nominated for two Jeff Awards for Outstanding Lighting Design, and is a member of Shattered Globe Theatre’s Ensemble.
